Kiss Me Deadly is the third studio album by English New Romantic band Gen X. The band consisted of Billy Idol on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Tony James on bass guitar and Terry Chimes on drums.
On release Kiss Me Deadly failed to secure a place in the United Kingdom's Album Chart. Gen X broke up in 1981 after the record's commercial failure.
All tracks written by Billy Idol and Tony James, except where noted.
Gen X was without a lead guitarist during the recording of the long-player and its guitar work features contributions from some of the best lead players from the post-punk London music scene who were at that time between bands, viz, John McGeogh and Steve Jones, Steve New and Danny Kustow, the latter two not being formerly credited on its sleeve. (The guitarist James Stevenson is credited on the sleeve as being in the band, but joined after the long-player had been recorded and didn't contribute to the record).
The song Heaven's Inside was written by Idol about Steve New, who played the guitar tracks on the songs Dancing With Myself and Untouchables.
Kiss Me Deadly on release failed to enter the UK Album Chart. Its only single release Dancing with Myself reached #62 in the United Kingdom's Singles Chart on a pre-release in October 1980 before the long-player (although it was later a hit for Billy Idol as a solo artist).
