The Kirov series is a long chain of linked novels written by John Schettler in the science fiction genres of alternate history and time travel. Based on the premises of the The Final Countdown, Kirov novels deal with a consequences of modern warship - Russian battlecruiser Kirov - being thrown back in time and forced to take part in the events of the World War II and other global conflicts. As it is placed right in the middle of the war zone and too powerful to be ignored, battlecruiser and her crew need to find their way through the formidable opposition, which is proven to be very difficult, despite vast technology advantage and historical knowledge. Books have a significant focus on the psychology of the people involved and establishing both emotional and rational reasons to their actions.
Powerful Russian battlecruiser Kirov (Soviet navy class - тяжелый атомный ракетный крейсер (ТАРКР) - heavy nuclear guided missile cruiser) in a result of the nuclear incident is transferred back in time from 2021 into the Northern Atlantic of 1941 where it subsequently becomes embroiled in the World War II. As mighty warship and her crew try to survive, they significantly influence the course of the events in the known history.
The BCGN Kirov in the novels is the result of a fictitious modernization which took place in 2010-2020, based on the parts of sisterships and adding some modern weapon suites and electronic gear, which was not available on the original prototype in the 1980s. 
A strange accident sends the most powerful battlecruiser on earth careening through a breach in time…to the year 1941! Now the Royal Navy begins the hunt for a deadly new ship they believe is a new German commerce raider. But as Kirov runs the Denmark Strait, she poses a threat to the lives of Churchill and Roosevelt, both at sea for their first meeting at the Atlantic Charter.
