The Kingscote family has long roots in England, particularly Gloucestershire. They descend from Nigel Fitzarthur who was was one of the eight pledges of Robert Fitzhardinge, of Berkely, Gloucestershire. He lived at Kingscote, Gloucestershire, from where the family took the name. The Kingscote family were originally tenants of the Berkeley family of Berkeley Castle, whose principal residence was Kingscote Park, Gloucestershire. Kingscote Park was demolished in 1951. Important military men are part of this family.
