The Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, currently also known for sponsorship reasons as the St Canice's Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised since 1887 by Kilkenny GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The winner qualifies to represent the county in the Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship.
The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Nowlan Park in October. The prize for the winning team is the Tom Walsh Cup. The championship had always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the series, but in recent years group stages have been introduced.
Twelve clubs currently participate in the Kilkenny County Championship. Clara are the current title-holders after defeating O'Loughlin Gaels in the 2015 championship decider.
The first Hurling champions of Kilkenny were Tullaroan in 1887.
The title has been won at least once by 26 different clubs. The all-time record-holders are Tullaroan, who have won the competition 20 times.
The Kilkenny County Championship is played on a combined league-championship basis. The league begins with two groups of six teams. The top two teams in each group progress into the quarter-finals, while third placed team plays the fourth placed team, and the fifth placed team plays the sixth placed team. The losers of the latter games enter a relegation play-off.
