Keswick School is a coeducational 11–18 comprehensive with 1183 pupils on roll. There are 286 students in the sixth form and 50 boarders. The school has prevciously been recognised under a number of designations, including; training school, Leading Edge, Science Specialist, High Performance and Gifted and Talented SSAT Consultant School. Keswick School retains a traditional atmosphere, with over 650 years of history. This includes a prefect system with a Head Boy and Head Girl, a House system with Heads of House, Prizegiving and uniform for students in both the main school and sixth form. Facilities include boarding accommodation, ski slope, performing arts theatre and an extra-curricular programme including sports, outdoor education, music and drama. If offers a wide range of other opportunities for pupils, including foreign exchange visits and charity events. Keswick School is a leading partner in the Western Lakes Teaching School Alliance.

Keswick School has a variety of partnerships with a range of organisations. Including:

Gen 2 – Gen 2 is an electronics and engineering training organisation based in the North West of England. A-Level Systems and Control is run in partnership with Gen 2.

React – React is a Cumbrian-based engineering firm, they provide support and guidance to students who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering.

Lamont Pridmore Ltd – Lamont Pridmore is one of the leading, independent chartered accountancy practices in Cumbria, Lancashire and Southern Scotland. They provide practical support to pupils who are studying Business Studies for GCSE and A Level.

The Rotary Club – The local Rotary Club support students with a particular interest in Design Technology, Textiles and Catering.

The Lions Club – The local Lions Club support students at the school with a particular interest in Design Technology. They also award a prize at the annual Prizegiving for the student who makes the most contribution in the local community.

Keswick School is one of 37 State Boarding Schools in England and Wales. Lairthwaite Boarding House was purpose built on the school site and has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It is a co-educational house designed to meet the needs of over 50 students aged 11–18. This relatively low number of places generates a unique family environment, which has proven to be very successful formula.

The residential house staff, with over 120 years combined experience, seek to create a safe, caring and stimulating ethos in which boarders are able to develop and mature.

Keswick School boarding house is home to a range of boarders from Britain and overseas. Boarders in residence include those from rural Cumbria, other parts of the UK, those whose parents are working on overseas contracts throughout the world, and European Union nationals from a range of countries around the world.
