Kent Slater


Kent Slater (born November 25, 1945) is a former American judge and politician.

Born in Hampton, Iowa, Slater served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in South Vietnam. He received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois and then received his law degree from John Marshall Law School. He then practiced law in Macomb, Illinois. From 1985 to 1988, Slater served in the Illinois House of Representatives and was a Republican. From 1988 to 1990, Slater served as an Illinois circuit court judge. Then from 1990 until 2006, Slater served on the Illinois Appellate Court.
