As of January 2013, the firm has 105 attorneys and approximately 150 staff members. The firm’s Managing Partner is Paul V. Muething and the Executive Partner is Rachael A. Rowe.

The firm was founded as Keating, Muething & Keating by brothers Charles Keating, Jr. and William J. Keating and John L. Muething, a friend of Charles Keating's from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

In 1954, the firm opened a small space on the 39th floor of Carew Tower. In the late 1950s, the firm added client Carl Lindner, Jr. and his American Financial Corporation.

In 1958, William Keating began his career in government service as judge of Hamilton County Municipal Court; as a requirement of his judicial service, the name of the firm was changed to Keating & Muething. After the appointment, Donald P. Klekamp was hired from U.S. Steel in Cleveland to take over William's work. In the mid-1960s, Klekamp was elected partner, and the name of the firm was changed to Keating, Muething & Klekamp.

Keating Muething & Klekamp subsequently branched out its business, and its client list has included Cintas Corporation, Fifth Third Bank, and McDonald's Corporation.
