Karl von Tubeuf


Karl von Tubeuf (20 January 1862, in Amorbach – 8 February 1941, in Munich) was a German forestry scientist, mycologist and plant pathologist. He was a son-in-law to forestry scientist Robert Hartig (1839–1901).

He received his education at the Forestry College in Aschaffenburg and at the University of Munich, where in 1888 he qualified as a lecturer. From 1902 to 1933 he was a professor of forestry science at the University of Munich.

The fungi genus Tubeufia (Penz. & Sacc., 1897; family Tubeufiaceae) commemorates his name.

HIs book Pflanzenkrankheiten durch kryptogame Parasiten verursacht, (1895) was later translated into English and published as Diseases of plants induced by cryptogamic parasites (1897). Other noted works by Tubeuf include:
