Kapasia (Bengali: কাপাসিয়া) is an Upazila of Gazipur District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Kapasia is located at 24°06′00″N 90°34′15″E / 24.1000°N 90.5708°E / 24.1000; 90.5708 . It has 59,221 households and a total area of 356.98 km². Kapasia is a Thana of Gazipur District. Kapasia is a part of the old Bhawal Estate and falls within its boundary. The Bhawal National Park, one of the national parks of Bangladesh within Dhaka Division, is a 20 km drive away from Kapasia.

According to the 1991 Bangladesh census, Kapasia had a population of 303,710, of whom 154,204 were aged 18 or over. Males constituted 50.83% of the population, and females 49.17%. Kapasia has an average literacy rate of 100% (7+ years), against the national average of 32.4%. Kapasia is the birth place of many prominent people of Bangladesh. The notable people are: 1. First Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed. 2. Professor Dr Golam Hossain, Jahangirnagar University. 3. Mr Fakir Shahabuddin, Ex Attorney General. 4. Mr Hannan Shah, Ex Jute Minister. 5. Shahid Squadron Leader Md Mohsin, A famous fighter pilot of BAF. 6. Mr Sohel Taj, a courageous political leader. 7. Shahid Muktijoddha Sazzad. 8. Ex Air Chief Mr Enamul huq. 9. Secretary Mr Qader Sarkar. 10. Major General Monjur Rashid etc.

Kapasia is a part of Gazipur District's Agricultural Area. Fishery is also popular along with farming. There has been an earlier project in Kapasia Upazila where the WorldFish Center with funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Danish International Development Agency (Danida), had researched on farming systems and had introduced adaptive integrated aquaculture practices. Progoti Co-operative Land Development Bank Limited (also known as Progoti Bank) is the first Land Development Bank in Bangladesh which started functioning on January 10, 2009 in Kapasia town.
