The station is part of a group of television stations in Victoria that are owned by Morgan Murphy Media, based out of KAVU-TV.
The Station signed on December 1, 1997, under the callsign of KVTX-LP. Before becoming affiliated with Univision, The Station was affiliated with NBC. (That affiliation is now with KMOL-LD) The Station was then affiliated with AMGTV. The stations callsign was changed back to KUNU in 2012 to match the new Univision Affiliation.
