Julius Krein is an American political writer and editor best known as the founding editor of American Affairs.
Krein was raised in Eureka, South Dakota. He is a 2008 graduate of Harvard College, where he read political philosophy under Harvey C. Mansfield. He went into a career in finance, working for several firms, including Bank of America and the Blackstone Group, before leaving finance to found and edit American Affairs. in 2017.
