John Francis Tumpane (born May 4, 1983) is a Major League Baseball umpire. Tumpane made his major league umpiring debut on August 2, 2010. He umpired in six major league games in 2010, and returned in 2011, umpiring in 68 games. He is a 2001 graduate of Saint Laurence High School in Burbank, IL. Tumpane received his full-time MLB umpiring status on July 1, 2016.

On July 24, 2012, after MLB umpire Eric Cooper became ill during a game in which St. Louis experienced 104-degree heat with high humidity, Tumpane rushed to Busch Stadium to fill-in, arriving in the middle of the third inning and assuming the role of third base umpire.

In September 2012, Tumpane worked the Pacific Coast League playoff series between the Albuquerque Isotopes and Omaha Storm Chasers.

In November 2012, he worked the Taiwan qualifier stage of the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

On August 21, 2015, he was the home plate umpire in Houston for Mike Fiers no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On July 1, 2016, in a press release from the Harry Wendlestedt School for Umpires, Tumpane received his full-time commission as an MLB umpire.
