João Galego (Cape Verde Creole: Djon Galég’) is a village in the northeastern part of the island of Boa Vista, Cape Verde. The village is around 19 km east of the island capital of Sal Rei.
Agriculture is its main industry along with the whole of east of the island.
Juventude do Norte is its football (soccer) club of the village based in the village. It has its own field known as Estadio do Norte. It has a local competition known as Inter Povações João Galeg, represented by a team mainly by F.C. Feyenoord.
It also has its main street, there it preserves mural paintings in honor of Amílcar Cabral, it also has its cultural center.
In the village, it manufactures cheese in good quality, in an art form, it is possible to by it in the village.
Festivities in the village include the festival of Saint John the Baptist celebrated on 24 June along with two other communities of Fundo das Figueiras and João Galego. The festival features traditional colá music.
