Jay Monahan (born May 7, 1971) is the commissioner of golf's PGA Tour.

Monahan was born on May 7, 1971 in a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts called Belmont. He attended Belmont High School. The year after high school, he took a gap year in New Jersey where he attended the Lawrenceville School before he went to college. Monahan was immersed in the sport of golf as a child and went on to play Division II golf and hockey at Trinity College (Connecticut) where he was a member of the golf team (coach Bill Detrick) and an Academic All-American in his senior season. He graduated from Trinity College as a history major in 1993 and went on to earn his master's degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1995. Prior to joining the PGA Tour, Monahan worked at IMG Worldwide where he played an integral role in the development of what is now the Dell Technologies Championship at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass., and served as the tournament’s first director at just 32 years of age. In 2003, Monahan co-created Golf Fights Cancer, a charity that has raised nearly $5 million for cancer research. Later, he worked in sales for the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) in Boston. In June 2008, Monahan came to the PGA Tour as the executive director of The Players Championship. Monahan was named the TOUR’s Senior Vice President for Business Development in 2010. He was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in March 2013, overseeing business development, corporate marketing and partnerships, title sponsor relations, retail licensing and media sales.

Monahan served as Deputy Commissioner for two years and then the title of COO until former PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem announced his retirement on November 7, 2016. Monahan officially took over as the commissioner in January.

As commissioner, Monahan now has official authority over the premier, multibillion dollar golf tour in the world.

Monahan resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida where he commutes easily to the PGA TOUR Tour headquarters and home of The Players Championship, TPC Sawgrass. He and his wife, Susan, have two daughters: Sophie, thirteen, and Phoebe, ten.
