Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (also referred to as JBIMS or JB or just Bajaj) is the Department of Management Studies of the University of Mumbai (Bombay), named after noted industrialist and philanthropist, Jamnalal Bajaj. It is known for its post-graduate management programme (Masters in Management Studies, equivalent to an MBA) and is one of the best business schools in India, consistently ranking among the top 10. Owing to the extensive list of its alumni who've reached top positions in various MNCs, it is also known as the 'CEO Factory'.
JBIMS was established in 1965 by the University of Mumbai in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. JBIMS is considered to be unique in management education as it is firmly rooted in the local soil and capable of articulating the Indian ethos. In the contemporary era, when globalization and liberalization are the buzz words, the institute has (without disturbing the said roots) ordered itself to meet the emerging challenges, sentiments and opportunities that are coming with the new economic order.
The major objective behind the JBIMS is to evolve an indigenous model of management education in tune with the contemporary demands of the Indian and the global environments. JBIMS has been rated among the top 25 business schools in the Asia-Pacific region and has been consistently ranked among the top 10 business schools in India.
The proximity of Bajaj with the commercial hub of India — Nariman Point — is an added advantage. This translates into the symbiotic affiliation with the corporate magnates, equipping the students with business acumen to become tomorrow’s leaders.
The institute has full-time faculty in the core management disciplines and the functional areas of management. The institute also has a panel of eminent management experts and senior practising managers from diverse fields of management. The B-School offers full- and part-time programmes in management
Besides the regular curriculum, students are involved in co-curricular activities like inter business school competitions, research projects conducted by the institute and are constantly interacting with the industry, thus strengthening their practical orientation and developing themselves into future business managers.
JBIMS offers full-time MBA programme. In addition to MMS, the institute offers full-time course of Masters in Finance (MSc Finance), part-time courses and a doctoral PhD programme. In addition to the regular academics, guest lectures are organised from time to time.
