Jamie Halcro Johnston is a British Conservative politician, who is a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Highlands and Islands region as part of the Scottish Conservatives block. Halcro Johnston was appointed to the Scottish Parliament on 20 June 2017, following the resignation of Douglas Ross.
In the 2007 Scottish Parliament election, he unsuccessfully stood for the Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber constituency.
In the 2011 and 2016 Scottish Parliament elections, he unsuccessfully stood for the Orkney constituency.
In 2017 United Kingdom general election, he stood unsuccessfully for Orkney and Shetland. At that election Douglas Ross, a Conservative regional MSP was elected for the Moray constituency and subsequently resigned from the Scottish Parliament, as Halcro Johnston was next on the Conservative list of regional candidates for the Highlands & Islands region, he was selected by the party to take the vacant seat.
Johnston is a member of the Economy, Jobs and Fair work Committee, Standarss, Procedures and Public appointments committee and Finance and Constitution committee in the Scottish Parliament.
