James Allen Cox (born June 1, 1977), best known under the ring name James Storm, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to Impact Wrestling (formerly Total Nonstop Action Wrestling). Storm has been signed to TNA/Impact Wrestling on-and-off since it's inception in 2002.
During his time with TNA/Impact Wrestling, Storm became a one-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion, one-time TNA King of the Mountain Champion, a record seven-time NWA World Tag Team Champion as a member of America's Most Wanted with "Wildcat" Chris Harris and a record seven-time TNA World Tag Team Champion, five as a member of Beer Money, Inc. with Robert/Bobby Roode and once each with Abyss and Gunner. All totalled, Storm has held 16 championships in Impact Wrestling.
James Cox was an amateur wrestler while in high school. In addition, he was a talented basketball player, and was awarded a scholarship to Austin Peay State University (which he was forced to relinquish after injuring his shoulder).
Cox's professional wrestling career began when he was trained by Wolfie D, a veteran tag team wrestler, in 1995. His training was hampered by a broken shoulder, and Cox eventually dropped out of Slash's training school. He resumed training with Shane Morton after his shoulder had healed.
