James Kempton is a non-executive board member of Ofsted and Clerk to the College of Teaching.
He chairs Islington Community Theatre and is a governor of the Cripplegate Foundation.
He was a former British Liberal Democrat local government politician and leader of Islington Council (2006-2009). He was councillor for Holloway ward (1994-2002) and St Mary's (2002-2010), representing the area where both he and his mother were born. He was council deputy leader 2000-2006. James also led on children and young people’s issues for London Councils and is a member of the London Skills and Employment Board.
