Jaime Andrade Jr. has served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives since his appointment in August 2013 to succeed now-Alderwoman Deb Mell as the representative for the 40th district. He won his first election in 2014, and is seeking re-election as a Democrat in 2016.
A long-time resident of the Irving Park neighborhood, Andrade's district is located on the northwest side of Chicago and includes Avondale, Irving Park and Albany Park. From 1998 until his appointment to the General Assembly he was an assistant to former Chicago alderman Richard Mell; he was also a Legislative Assistant and Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms for the Chicago City Council.
Andrade is a supporter of Marriage Equality, an Elected School Board, and a $15 Minimum Wage.
