John Hicks Lanier is an American heir and businessman. He has been the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Oxford Industries (: OXM) since 1981.
J. Hicks Lanier is the son of Sartain Lanier, the co-founder Oxford Industries. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1964.
He was the director of the Piedmont Medical Center, the American Apparel Manufacturers Association, and Shaw Industries. In 1981, he became the Chairman of the Board and the CEO of Oxford Industries. He sits on the Boards of Directors of SunTrust Banks (: STI), Crawford & Company (: CRDB), and Genuine Parts Company (: GPC). He sits on the Board of Advisors of Urban Realty Partners.
He is a former trustee of the Westminster Schools of Atlanta and the Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children. He now sits on the Board of Trustees of Vanderbilt University since 1997 and on the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of Central Atlanta Progress.
