The Jüngeres Hildebrandslied (younger, or later, song of Hildebrand) is a Middle High German epic poem that reworks the oral legend of the warrior Hildebrand. It was first written down by an anonymous scribe in 1472. It is not based on the ninth-century Hildebrandslied, an independent version of the legend, in comparison with which it is highly sentimentalized and does not end in tragedy. It was widely copied in manuscripts and proved equally popular in early printings. It was translated into Dutch and Danish several times.
