Izhathu Mannanars

The Izhathu Mannanars were an Ezhava landowning dynasty of Malabar, in the present day Kannur and Kasaragod districts of India. They may have had a Buddhist heritage. The word Mannanar derives from mannan, meaning king and ar, which pluralises it.
