Grande co-wrote the song with Savan Kotecha, Alexander Kronlund, and its producers Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh. The song was released as the album's second single, being first released to digital download on May 6, 2016 via pre-order of the album, and later serviced to contemporary hit and rhythmic radio on June 28, 2016. "Into You" is a dance-pop song, with elements of EDM and it features "a thudding disco beat, lurking synths and sharp clicks" in its instrumentation.
Commercially, the song has peaked at number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100, number 14 on the UK Singles Chart and number 11 on the Australian ARIA Charts.
