Insidious: The Last Key is an upcoming American supernatural horror film directed by Adam Robitel and written by Leigh Whannell. It is the fourth installment in the Insidious franchise, and the second chronologically following 2015's Insidious: Chapter 3. The film stars Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Spencer Locke, Kirk Acevedo and Bruce Davison.
It is scheduled to be released on January 5, 2018, by Universal Pictures in the United States and Sony Pictures Releasing for international distribution.
The film is set after the events of the third film and follows Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), in her youth in New Mexico, that begins to be haunted by a malevolent and demonic spirit in their own house, pushing her deeper into the Further.
Principal photography began in August 2016, and ended the following month. On August 29, 2017, it was announced via Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights, that the next chapter in the Insidious franchise will be titled Insidious: The Last Key.
Insidious: The Last Key is scheduled to be released on January 5, 2018. It was originally set for October 20, 2017, but was replaced by another Blumhouse Productions film known as Happy Death Day.
