In the Presence of a Clown (Swedish: Larmar och gör sig till) is a television film by Ingmar Bergman, and was recorded for Swedish television in 1997 with Bergman as a director. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of a man named Carl, who is a professor and a mental patient sentenced to a mental ward for attempted murder. In the hospital he is in, he befriends another person, Osvald, and they attempt the making and promoting of a film.
The film was a production for Sveriges Television of Bergman's 1994 play with the same title.
