In der Maur or In der Mauer (also as Indermaur and Indermauer) is a family of Swiss origin. The name in the German language translates to "in the wall" and originated in the Rhaetian Alps in Switzerland. Throughout the late Middle Ages and into the early Renaissance period, the Indermaurs served as Burgomeisters of Berneck, appointed by the Abbey of Saint Gall, and are recorded as one of the original families of Berneck. A branch of the family, the In der Maur auf Strelburg und zu Freifeld, were members of the Tyrolese landed nobility and settled in Austria and northern Italy, owning land in the Strehlburg region of Kurtatsch an der Weinstraße and in Freienfeld. The Indermaurs were ennobled by Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor in 1479. On 6 March 1601 the Indermaurs were elevated to the landed nobility by Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor. On 23 June 1703 the Indermaurs were made barons by Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor.

In 1525, the Swiss branch of Indermaurs adopted the religious reforms of Huldrych Zwingli. The Austrian branch remained Catholic.
