I Wrote These Songs with Heavy Vibes and a Piano is the first EP by singer-songwriter Freddie Bourne, that was released on January 27, 2017.

Bourne intended to release a follow-up second studio album The Troubled Boy in Life's Spiral but halted the recording process halfway through production due to the death of his mother. Bourne then took a year-and-a-half hiatus from recording and performing live until June 2016 when he performed at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey, performing the late Prince's "Purple Rain" and his original song "Push Away" from Only Human.

In November 2016, Bourne announced that he would release this "raw and unapologetic EP" of songs that he wrote during his hiatus from the public eye, where Bourne would be recording the tracks live in studio with very little editing process. Bourne detailed that the EP is about his journey of grief - particularly shock, anger and depression experienced after his mother died.

Bourne released I Wrote These Songs with Heavy Vibes and a Piano on January 27, 2017, which would have been his mother's 58th birthday. He released the EP along with a live performance of the EP at Maxwell's the same night.

Bourne cites that he listened to Panda Bear's Young Prayer for the inspiration of sounds, emotion, and raw production that he wanted to implement in his EP. He also notes that he listened closely to the production of Milky Chance's Sadnecessary for the vocal and guitar arrangements and a live version of Matt Corby's "Runaway".

I Wrote These Songs with Heavy Vibes and a Piano has received very positive reviews since its release, with the lo-fi production, concept, and Bourne's vocal performance receiving praise. Many fans and critics found it a large improvement over Only Human and that Bourne was finally expanding his musicality to match his live shows.

All songs were written by Freddie Bourne and produced by Mike Kuzan.
