It was released in March 1993 as the second single from his debut album, Life's a Dance. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. It became Montgomery's first number-one single and was named Song of the Year by the Academy of Country Music.
The music video was directed by Marc Ball and premiered in early 1993.
