Houston SaberCats Rugby is a Major League Rugby team based in Houston, Texas, founded in 2016 for the purpose of competing in the United States' new national league. Along with Head Coach Justin Fitzpatrick, Assistant Coach Sam Windsor and Academy Director Matt Trouville, the team began recruiting for its inaugural season in 2017.
The team will play at Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, during 2017 exhibition matches and for their inaugural season in 2018. The team plan to build a stadium of their own in Houston in the near future. The Sabercats train at Athlete Training and Health in Houston with ATH Director of Training Systems Antwan Floyd.
Major League Rugby, the new national rugby league for America, is an initiative driven by USA Rugby members and several private investors. The initiative is scheduled to launch for its first season in 2018.
