Horstead with Stanninghall is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk which is also known as 'The Gateway of The Broads' consisting of the former parishes of Horstead and Stanninghall. It covers an area of 11.54 km2 (4.46 sq mi) and had a population of 1007 in 435 households at the 2001 census, including Crostwick and the population increasing to 1,184 in 506 households at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Broadland. As well as Stanninghall, Horstead also includes the hamlets of Largate and Heggatt

There is a history of the parish, written by Percy Millican, bearing the descriptive title 'The History of Horstead and Stanninghall'.

Horstead (52°43′32″N 01°21′10″E / 52.72556°N 1.35278°E / 52.72556; 1.35278 (Horstead)) is today a large dormitory village of Norwich.

Stanninghall (52°42′29″N 01°20′12″E / 52.70806°N 1.33667°E / 52.70806; 1.33667 (Stanninghall)) contains an old farmhouse, on the site of a medieval manor house which acquired the somewhat hard to say title of 'Stanninghall Hall', the remains of a church tower and a number of council houses. In the inter-war years, it was an isolation settlement for people suffering from tuberculosis. Millican states that the church was allowed to fall down by the family at the Hall who were Roman Catholics.
