Hillsdale Township is a civil township of Hillsdale County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,965 at the 2000 census.
The City of Hillsdale is situated mostly within the area of the township, but is administratively autonomous.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 13.2 square miles (34 km2), of which 12.6 square miles (33 km2) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2) (4.03%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,965 people, 734 households, and 593 families residing in the township. The population density was 155.5 per square mile (60.1/km²). There were 805 housing units at an average density of 63.7 per square mile (24.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.81% White, 0.81% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.25% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.71% of the population.
There were 734 households out of which 31.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.4% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.1% were non-families. 14.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 2.89.
