Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete of the Year Award

The Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete of the Year Award was established in 1994 by the Rotary Club of Tulsa. The Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete of the Year Award was established to honor 2 athletes, one male and one female, which have exhibited or demonstrated excellence in their sport and in life. The award facilitates the receiver to donate $10,000 to the charity of their choice. The Rotary Club of Tulsa then makes arrangements for the athletes to speak before high school juniors and seniors. The focus of the talk centers on the significance of education and athletics in life.

In 1994, the Rotary Club of Tulsa established the Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete of the Year Award with additional acknowledgement by recognized by the Chairman’s Award. Since the inception of the Award, the Chairman’s Award has only been presented four times. The Chairman’s Award is an exceptional award that distinguishes an individual: “with a serious physical disability who expresses courage in the face of adversity by achieving a significant accomplishment in sports.”
