Helgi Jónas Guðfinnsson is an Icelandic former professional basketball coach and player.

From 1995 to 2001, Helgi played 63 games for the Icelandic national basketball team.

Helgi was voted coach of the year of the men's Úrvalsdeild in the 2011-12 season, when he won the Icelandic championship with Grindavík.

He last coached Úrvalsdeild club Keflavík in the beginning of the 2014-2015 season before having to step down and retiring from coaching due to heart problems.

From 2002 to 2003, Helgi played 9 games in the Icelandic top-tier football league as well as appear in one cup game for Grindavík's football team.
