Awesome Android Machine Man Sentry #459 TESS-One |
Heavy Metal is a fictional group of villains appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They first appeared in Avengers vol. 1 #288 and apparently disbanded after their defeat in Avengers vol. 1 #290.
Machine Man agreed to join the Super-Adaptoid's cause, and flew to Texas where they found the Kree Sentry #459, which the Adaptoid repaired and reprogrammed. The three robots then sought to recruit TESS-One, but Black Knight and Doctor Druid of the Avengers were protecting it. After defeating the Avengers, the Adaptoid reprogrammed TESS-One and the four of them went to the Avengers headquarters at Hydro-Base, where Adaptoid claimed it in the name of Heavy Metal.
They attacked Avengers headquarters, and the Adaptoid found the Awesome Android and took control of it. As Heavy Metal attacked the Avengers and destroyed their headquarters, Machine Man had a change of heart, and the Avengers defeated the other robots. Meanwhile, the Adaptoid used the Avengers' technology to summon Kubik and gained its nearly unlimited power unto that of a Cosmic Cube.
The Super-Adaptoid used its new powers to imprison all the Avengers in solid blocks of force, and then began to create numerous other Adaptoids to replace all the world's humans. Captain America arrived and tried to trick the Adaptoid, and when the Adaptoid replicated Captain America's powers it was unable to replicate his fighting spirit and Captain America defeated the Adaptoid.
