Dr. Harvey Kesselman is the fifth president of in Galloway Township, New Jersey He is the first Stockton alumnus to become president and was a member of the first class at Stockton. Kesselman was among those students affectionately referred to as the “Mayflower” students, because the first classes in 1971 were held at the Mayflower Hotel, located on the Atlantic City boardwalk, while construction was being completed on the first academic buildings on the main campus in Galloway.

Kesselman received his bachelor's degree in Political Science from , his master's degree in Student Personnel Services/Counseling from Rowan University, and his doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Widener University.

He was appointed by the American Council on Education (ACE) to serve as a member of the Commission on Internationalization and Global Engagement (CIGE), through June 2019.

In 2016, he received the Giving Back Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Giving Back Award honors presidents and chancellors of colleges and universities who go above and beyond their everyday leadership duties and “give back” to their campuses and communities.

He also serves on the Board of Directors of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia.

Under his leadership, Stockton is expanding its Galloway campus and strengthening its roots in Atlantic City.

A $33.2 million expansion of Stockton’s science facilities is underway on the Galloway campus, along with a $15.2 million classroom building. This will complete an Academic Quad that will transform the main entrance to the university.

A campus in Atlantic City is under construction, with residences for 533 students overlooking the beach and Boardwalk, parking and an academic building which will accommodate up to 1,800 students. The campus is part of the Atlantic City Gateway Project, a public-private partnership with Atlantic City Development Corp., or AC Devco.

All of Stockton’s new facilities are expected to open for classes in 2018.

His previous senior leadership roles at Stockton include serving as provost and executive vice president; dean, School of Education; interim vice president for Administration and Finance; CEO of the Southern Regional Institute (SRI) and Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC); and vice president for Student Affairs. Kesselman also is a tenured professor in Stockton’s School of Education.

Kesselman has been appointed by New Jersey governors and state education leaders to serve as the senior college representative on a number of authorities, committees and task forces. He served on the Executive Committee of the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), which oversees New Jersey's $1 billion student financial aid program.
