Rare Futures is a progressive R&B/Rock or self-described "GrooveRock" band from New York, NY and San Jose, CA. The band features Matthew Fazzi (ex-guitarist/back-up vocalist of Taking Back Sunday and multi-instrumentalist in Facing New York). Fazzi is also currently a member of the Brooklyn-based indie-rock band, A Great Big Pile of Leaves.

Their self-released debut record, Dreams of Water, recorded with producer Marc Jacob Hudson (Two Tongues, Saves the Day), was released September 21, 2010, and received favorable reviews from critics. Followed by the Sleepy EP (featuring B-Sides and Acoustic Tracks) which was digitally released in summer of 2012. They are currently working on a means to release their 2nd full-length album which is set to be released before the end of 2014.

The band has been praised for meshing different musical styles to create a unique, rhythmic and atmospheric sound.

Happy Body Slow Brain was originally started in late 2007 as a side-project of Fazzi's during his tenure with Bay Area prog-rockers, Facing New York. Fazzi released several garageband based electronic demos via the band's Myspace page during the first two years not deciding to focus on the project until years later, following his departure from the band, Taking Back Sunday.

On March 31, 2010 Matthew Fazzi and bassist Matthew Rubano announced that they were no longer members of Taking Back Sunday, as the band had decided to reunite with its original line-up, featuring founding member John Nolan and Shaun Cooper, who had originally left the band in 2003 to form Straylight Run after the release of Tell All Your Friends. Soon after, Fazzi recruited former Taking Back Sunday touring guitarist Isaac Bolivar, who played 3rd guitar on the band's live albums Live from Bamboozle '09 and Live from Orensanz, and reworked a collection of songs he had written before and during his tenure with Taking Back Sunday, which were stylistically different from the major label band's usual material. Fazzi then enlisted Gavin Castleton Trio drummer, Eduardo Torres, to record drums for their debut album, Dreams of Water, with Two Tongues, Saves the Day, and Chiodos producer Marc Jacob Hudson in Michigan. The album was released digitally through the band's website on September 21, 2010. In support of their debut, the band played with Rx Bandits, Maps And Atlases, Glassjaw, The Velvet Teen, Zechs Marquise, Helen Earth Band, and The Sleeping among others. In late December 2010, Happy Body Slow Brain teamed up with photographer Clay Lancaster to film live performances of "Dreams of Water" in its entirety, and have been gradually releasing them track by track via their YouTube page.
