Hangar 13 is an American video game developer founded on December 4, 2014, as a subsidiary of 2K Games. It is based in Novato, California, in the area of the former Hamilton Air Force Base. Headed by comic book and video game writer Haden Blackman, the studio's debut title was Mafia III, which was released on October 7, 2016.
On December 4, 2014, 2K Games announced that they had set up a new game studio, Hangar 13, led by industry veteran Haden Blackman, formerly creative director for LucasArts. Blackman told GamesBeat that the studio will work on a game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms.
Mafia III, the studio's debut title, was teased by 2K on July 28, 2015, and formally revealed at Gamescom 2015, on August 5, 2015, with a cinematic trailer.2K Czech had a supporting role in the game's development.Mafia III was released on October 7, 2016 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
