Handy Township is a civil township of Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,004 at the 2000 census.

Former township supervisor Dr. Henry Vaupel represents the 47th House District in the Michigan House of Representatives.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.6 square miles (90 km2), of which 34.5 square miles (89 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (0.32%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 7,004 people, 2,504 households, and 1,837 families residing in the township. The population density was 203.0 per square mile (78.4/km²). There were 2,594 housing units at an average density of 75.2 per square mile (29.0/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.04% White, 0.19% African American, 0.97% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.07% of the population.
There were 2,504 households out of which 40.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.6% were non-families. 21.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.22.
