Halifax is a town in the Shire of Hinchinbrook, Queensland, Australia, on the Herbert River, 15 kilometres (9 mi) northeast of Ingham.
At the 2011 census, Halifax had a population of 431.
August Anderssen, a blacksmith, purchased the land in 1880 after which time the land was turned into sugar plantations.
Halifax Post Office opened on 23 August 1886.
The town has a Town hall, public library and regular community markets.
