Halfbridled (foaled February 2, 2001 in Kentucky) is a dark bay or brown Thoroughbred racehorse.
Halfbridled is a bay mare bred by in Kentucky by the French-based Wertheimer et Frere.
Following a victorious debut in a Maiden Special Weight race at Del Mar Racetrack, Halfbridled contested the Grade I Del Mar Debutante Stakes, where she defeated five opponents including Hollywood Story and Victory USA. She then went to a Breeders' Cup prep race, the 1 1/16 miles Grade II Oak Leaf Stakes at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. In the Oak Leaf, she faced six others including Hollywood Story again.
Entering the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies undefeated, Halfbridled went to the gate on October 25, 2003, as the 2-1 favorite in a field of fourteen. She drew the farthest post from the rail, #14. She won under her usual jockey, Hall of Fame rider Julie Krone.
After this event Halfbridled won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding 2-Year-Old Filly.
Halfbridled was retired from racing early in her four-year-old racing career due to her tendency to "tie up" before races, resulting in her being scratched. It was hoped that breeding her would end the problem. She successfully delivered a filly in 2007 by Giant's Causeway.
