Gross generation or gross electric output is the total amount of electricity generated by a power plant. It is measured at the plant terminal right before the power leaves the station and is measured in kilowatt-hours (kW·h), megawatt-hours (MW·h), gigawatt-hours (GW·h) or for the largest power plants terawatt-hours (TW·h).
Since gross generation measures the total amount of power produced for an electrical grid, it does not include the power used by the plan to generate electricity.
