The Greenwood School District is a diminutive, rural, public school district located in Millerstown, Pennsylvania. The district is the northernmost school district in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Encompassing approximately 99 square miles (260 km2), Greenwood School District serves residents of the following municipalities: Millerstown Borough, Liverpool Borough, Greenwood Township, Liverpool Township, Tuscarora Township, Greenwood Township. The total population of the Greenwood School District in 2007 was 5,235 per the US Census Bureau. According to the 2010 Census by the US Census Bureau, the District served a resident population of 5,492. The educational attainment levels for the Greenwood School District population (25 years old and over) were 86.7% high school graduates and 14.8% college graduates.
According to the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, 25.6% of the District's pupils lived at 185% or below the Federal Poverty level as shown by their eligibility for the federal free or reduced price school meal programs in 2012. In 2013, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, reported that no students in the Greenwood School District were homeless. In 2009, Greenwood School District residents' per capita income was $18,424 a year, while the median family income was $46,932.
