Green Lake Township is a civil township of Grand Traverse County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 5,784 at the 2010 census, an increase from 5,009 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.3 square miles (94 km2), of which 29.4 square miles (76 km2) is land and 6.9 square miles (18 km2) (19.10%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,009 people, 1,942 households, and 1,419 families residing in the township. The population density was 170.4 per square mile (65.8/km²). There were 2,457 housing units at an average density of 83.6 per square mile (32.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 96.95% White, 0.02% African American, 1.22% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.86% of the population.
There were 1,942 households out of which 34.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.6% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.9% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.00.
