The 15th Dáil was elected at the 1954 general election on 18 May 1954 and first met on 2 June when the 7th Government of Ireland was appointed. The 15th Dáil lasted for 1,022 days.

The 7th Government of Ireland (2 June 1954 – 20 March 1957) – or more commonly the Second Inter-Party Government – is the name given to the government which led Ireland from 1954 to 1957. The coalition consisted of Fine Gael, the Labour Party and Clann na Talmhan. Yet again a dislike of Fianna Fáil overcame all other problems in forming a government. This is the earliest Irish cabinet to have one of its members, specifically Liam Cosgrave, still living.
