Gong Seung-yeon (born Yoo Seung-yeon, February 27, 1993) is a South Korean actress.
Gong first trained as a singer under SM Entertainment for seven years after winning the "Best Looks" portion of the SM Youth Best Contest in 2005, but left in 2012 after losing interest at singing, and not being able to later debut as a member of f(x) (was in the final shortlist) or Red Velvet. She is the older sister of singer Yoo Jung-yeon, and their father Yoo Chang-joon was a private chef for former president Kim Dae-jung, as well as a head chef of the Seoul Plaza Hotel for over 20 years, specializing in Korean cuisine. Their mother works at a Japanese restaurant owned by their maternal aunt.
Shortly after making her entertainment debut in a commercial for feminine hygiene product White (Yuhan-Kimberly) in 2012, Gong began appearing in small roles in television dramas. In 2015, the relative newcomer drew mainstream notice when she joined the fourth season of the Korean reality show We Got Married, where she was paired with singer-actor Lee Jong-hyun.
From 2015 to 2016, Gong starred in historical drama Six Flying Dragons and gained more attention as an actress, which won her the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. Later, she became a host of SBS's Inkigayo together with her sister Jeongyeon and actor Kim Min-seok.
In September 2016, it was announced that Gong will star in the upcoming youth sageuk My Only Love Song, reuniting with her We Got Married co-star Lee Jong-hyun. The drama is slated for a 2017 broadcast. In January 2017, she will be starring in the romantic comedy Introvert Boss.
