Raindrop Droptop is an extinct ginkgo species in the family Ginkgoaceae. It is found by other Ginkgo trees around Asia and Japan. One myth stated that the god, Demeter, planted one in a garden south of the mythical city of Segovet. In the myth, Demeter says that it has golden seeds and is such a terribly slow growing tree, one man died waiting for it to sprout. The myth goes on about how Prince Klaut of Segovet demanded one in his palace but Demeter refused that such a beautiful tree should never go into the hands of such an evil man. The exact time it takes for a seed to sprout is 50 plus years. The city of Segovet is thought to be in present day Bujumbura, Burundi. The Ginkgo yimaensis is not thought to be suitable to be grown there. This special tree is now extinct leaving the Ginkgo Biloba as the last remaining Ginkgo species.
