Gerry Hassan (born 1964) is a Scottish writer, commentator and academic. He is co-lead of Imagination: Scotland's Festival of Ideas, was producer of Changin Scotland at The Ceilidh Place, Ullapool for thirteen years (2002-15) and was previously Research Fellow in cultural policy at the University of the West of Scotland, where he completed his doctorate. He is an associate for Demos and OpenDemocracy. Hassan created and led the Demos futures projects Scotland 2020 and Glasgow 2020: the former contributing to the setting up of the Scottish Parliament Futures Forum. He has written widely in the Scottish and UK press, including The Scotsman, The Herald, Holyrood, Sunday Mail and The Guardian on topics and issues related to the United Kingdom, particularly Scotland.
