Gerard "Ged" Killen is a Scottish Labour Party politician. Since the 2017 General Election he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rutherglen and Hamilton West after achieving a vote swing of just under 9% from the previous incumbent and their party.
He joined the Labour Party in 2007 and was elected councillor for the Rutherglen South ward of South Lanarkshire Council at the age of 26, in a 2013 by-election (following the death of Cllr Anne Higgins), having been a defeated candidate in the main 2012 elections.
He retained his council seat in the 2017 elections, this time in the Rutherglen Central and North ward.
He attended Trinity High School in Rutherglen.
