The Most Rev George Daniel Browne was an eminent Anglican priest in the second half of the 20th century.
He was born in Cape Palmas Liberia in 1933, and educated at Cuttington University and Virginia Theological Seminary.
Browne was ordained deacon in 1962, and priest the following year. He became Bishop of Liberia in 1970 and Archbishop of West Africa in 1982, retiring from both posts in 1989.
He died on 14 February 1993 in Milwaukee (the home town of one of his children) after a long struggle with terminal illness and deteriorating health.
