Gavin Ice Piedmont


Gavin Ice Piedmont (63°44′S 59°0′W / 63.733°S 59.000°W / -63.733; -59.000Coordinates: 63°44′S 59°0′W / 63.733°S 59.000°W / -63.733; -59.000) is an ice piedmont in Trinity Peninsula, Antarctica, about 15 nautical miles (30 km) long and between 3 and 6 nautical miles (6 and 11 km) wide, extending from Charcot Bay to Russell West Glacier. It was mapped from surveys by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (1960–61), and was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee for Christopher B. Gavin-Robinson, a pilot of the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–57).
